Knowledge and "know how" is priceless...except when you get cracked in the eye for it!

Its been a great weekend so far and last night was the highlight. Tim and I set off to try and change the fork oil on my 2004 sporty. Sounds easy enough right? The manual makes it sound like its "eazy peazy". HAAA! We had no issues draining the forks except I stripped one of the screws that plugs the drain hole cause they are made of soft cheese. Anyway, onward and forward! We encountered some issues because we didnt have the right tools and the crescent wrench did not provide enough leverage to develop enough torque for it to give. After much time spent trying to muscle the fork nut off we decided we needed better tools. Off we go to pick up a 1 3/8 socket and a 1' adapter with a T flex for leverage. $57.00 later we think we have this taken care of. The tools helped a ton! man it was like night and day. One of the forks was pretty tight and needed some muscle to get loose.finally some progress. except the damn nut was stuck in the socket cause it stripped slightly. After a while Tim got it out and it went on fine. Finally we finished everything off and so we were tightening bolts here and there for security. Tim was holding the bike and I was tightening the last bolt. Tim was behind me on the other side of the bike. I was tightening the bolt a little more when the ratchet slipped and I elbowed Tim right in the eye! I felt bad cause I laughed before I asked him if he was alright. Ahhhhh, good times!
